Question : Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

(a) the total number of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the country, State-wise;
(b) the total number of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Assam, location-wise;
(c) the details of the languages taught as regional language in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in
Assam; and
(d) whether 80 per cent students use Assamese language in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and if
so, the details thereof?

(a): As on date, 661 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) have been sanctioned in the country.
The State/UT-wise details are at Annexure-I.
(b) & (c): The location-wise details of the places in the State of Assam along with the details of the
regional language being taught in the respective JNVs are at Annexure-II.
(d): Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has informed that 20 out of 27 functional JNVs in the State of
Assam are offering Assamese as the regional language and all the students in these Vidyalayas are
learning Assamese.
