Question : PROTECTION OF RABINDRANATH TAGORE`S HOUSE



(a) whether the Government is protecting and preserving the Rabindranath Tagore’s house especially in West Bengal;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (b) Yes, Sir. Govt. of West Bengal had sent a proposal for restoration of “Jorsankha Thakurbari” in Kolkata at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.03 crores as a part of 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. The proposal was considered by the National Implementation Committee (NIC), under the Chairmanship of Union Finance Minister on 14th July, 2010. As per the decision taken, Archaeological Survey of India has been entrusted the work in consultation with INTACH/ NBCC/CPWD//Conservation Experts.
