Question : Development of Airport Infrastructure

(a) the amount spent for the development of airport infrastructure across the country during the last three years;

(b) the number of airports for which the development proposals are pending with the Government; and

(c) the details of the works carried out for the airports of Rajasthan and Maharashtra during the last three years?

(a): Airports Authority of India (AAI) has spent Rs. 8855.82 crore during last three years on the development of airport infrastructure across the country.;

(b) & (c): Development of airports is a continuous process and is undertaken by airport operators from time to time depending on the availability of land, commercial viability, socio-economic considerations, traffic demand / willingness of airlines to operate to/from such airports. AAI has requested concerned State Governments to provide land for development of Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Gaya, Purnea, Goa, Ahmedabad, Porbandar, Surat, Madurai, Kangra, Kullu, Mangalore, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Agra etc. airports. During last three years, AAI has undertaken expansion works at Kolhapur and Pune airports in Maharashtra and Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur airports in Rajasthan. The details of the works undertaken at these airports are as follow:;

Kolhapur : Extension of Runway with Blast Pad, construction of New Domestic Terminal Building and other associated works;

Pune : Construction of New Integrated Terminal Building, Link Taxi track etc.;

Jaipur : Expansion of existing terminal building, construction of additional parking bays, construction of Cargo Complex etc.;

Jodhpur : Construction of new apron and link taxi track;

Udaipur : Construction of apron, link taxi & expansion of isolation bay
