Question : Exploitation by Coaching Institutes

(a) whether the Government has noticed that students-parents are exploited by coaching institutes in the country;

(b) if so, whether the Government has any proposal to bring reform to the existing system of conducting various exams including engineering entrance exam to help both parents and students;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard;

(d) whether the Government have also any proposal to bring any Bill to check the practice of private tution by the Government teachers in the country, if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the time by which it is likely to be introduced?

(a), (b) & (c): Taking into account the possibility that there may be instances of less than fair practices and those not in the interests of students, and based on a decision taken in the 49th council meeting of IITs held on 6/10/2015 at IIT Bombay, a committee of six eminent persons under the Chairpersonship of prof. Ashok Mishra, Chairman , BoG, IIT Roorkee was constituted to review the current JEE system for admission in IITs. The committee has submitted its report on 5.11.2015, which has been circulated to all IITs and also uploaded on the website of MHRD for feedback/ comments of stakeholders.
