(a) whether the Government has received suggestions/proposals from various State Governments for the reservation of backward category students in private professional institutions;

(b) if so, details thereof, State-wise;

(c) the reaction of the Government with regard to the Supreme Court judgment granting absolute control over the admission to the management of private sector engineering and medical colleges;

(d) whether the Government proposes to introduce a comprehensive legislation making reservation mandatory for backward category students in private professional institutions; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e): The Central Government in consultation with all concerned, including the State Governments, is in the process of formulating a policy to address the issue of social justice in respect of admission of students to unaided professional educational institutions.
