Question : FODDER BANKS



(a) the assistance provided to various States for setting up fodder banks for the development of animal feeds and fodder under Centrally Sponsored Schemes during each of the last three years and the current financial year, State-wise;

(b) the norms adopted for providing such assistance;

(c) the amount spent by each State for the purpose during the said period;

(d) whether any irregularities committed by the States in implementation of the said scheme has been reported recently; and

(e) if so, the details thereof alongwith the action being taken by the Government in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI TASLIMUDDIN)

(a )to(c): The following States were provided financial assistance for establishment of the Fodder Banks during 2004-05 on the basis of the viability of their proposals:

Arunachal Pradesh	-	Rs.39.00 Lakhs	Mahaarashtra	-	Rs.41.25 Lakhs	Mizoram	-	Rs.82.50 Lakhs	Nagaland	-	Rs.82.50 Lakhs

The concerned scheme was discontinued from the year 2005-06 onwards.

All the States mentioned above have fully utilized the funds released except Maharashtra who did not utilize the funds made available and refunded the same.

(d): No such report has been received.
