(a) & (b): The Government has been implementing various schemes since the Eight
Plan for the development of horticulture. Under these schemes various activities are
taken up for the benefit of the farmers such as supply of good planting material, area
expansion with improved varieties, productivity improvement measures, organize
training programmes, coverage under drip irrigation, green house construction, plastic
mulching etc. Since October 2000, these activities have been subsumed under the
Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Macro Management in Agriculture – Supplementation /
Complementation of State Efforts through Work Plans.
