(a) whether the Government has received any reports/complaints regarding hacking of
official websites/data of the various Ministries/Departments;
(b) if so, the details of such reports received by the Government during each of the
last three years and the current year; and
(c) the punitive action taken by the Government against the culprits along with the
precautionary measures taken to prevent hacking of the Government websites/sensitive data?

(a)&(b): As per information reported to and tracked by Indian Computer Emergency
Response Team (CERT-in), a total number of 303, 308, 371 and 48 Government websites
belonging to various Ministries/Departments were hacked during the year 2010, 2011, 2012
and 2013 (up to March) respectively.
(c): Department of Information Technology has taken necessary preventive actions to
prevent hacking of the Government websites/sensitive data, some of them are attached
at Annexure.
