Question : ALTERNATIVE JOBS TO RETIRED DEFENCE PERSONNEL



(a) the number of defence personnel who retired before attaining the age of 50 years during each of the last three years;

(b) the number of such retirees who were absorbed in different Government jobs after retirement;

(c) whether there is a policy to grant alternative Government employment in para-military forces or the police to defence personnel retiring at young age; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) A statement is attached.

(b) During the year 1999, 6,521 ex-Servicemen were provided employment in the Central and State Governments.

(c) & (d): No, Sir. However, the Central Government has reserved 10% of Group ‘C’ posts and 20% of Group ‘D’ posts for ex-Servicemen. 10% posts of Assistant Commandants in para-military forces are also reserved for ex-Servicemen. 100% posts are reserved for ex-Servicemen in Defence Security Corps.
