Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS

(RAO INDERJIT SINGH)

(a) Yes, Madam.

(b) The construction and demolition waste generated from the construction sites of the new Metro lines of Delhi is being recycled at the recycling plant at Burrari, Delhi. DMRC is also setting up its own C&D Waste Recycling Plant at Rohini, Delhi, for recycling of the C&D waste generated in the Phase-IV of the Metro Lines.

(c) The total quantity of C&D waste material recycled till now is 2.28 lakh metric ton. It is estimated that the total quantity of C&D waste likely to be generated in construction of Metro Lines in Phase-III would be 2.7 lakh metric ton which would also be recycled.

(d) There is little possibility of generating revenue by recycling of the waste material from metro construction sites. The recycling of C&D waste, however, results in reduction of costs.
