Question : Status of NSAP in Assam

(a) the details of beneficiaries covered under different components of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) in Cachar district of Assam;

(b) whether the identification of beneficiaries is a continuous process and if so, the details thereof and the time by which the beneficiaries list was last updated in Assam;

(c) whether the number of beneficiaries in Cachar match with the recent Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the details of assistance currently being provided under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) in Assam and the date of last revision of pension?

As per the information received from the State of Assam the point-wise reply to the question is as under:

(a): The beneficiaries covered under different components of National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) in Cachar district of Assam is as follows:

(b): Under the current dispensation respective State Governments and Union Territories are responsible for updation of list of the beneficiaries. As per information received from the State of Assam the list of beneficiaries was last updated in March, 2017.

(c): Eligible beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) are identified on the basis of Below Poverty Line(BPL) list. Shifting to Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) based identification of beneficiaries is contingent upon wide stakeholder consultations.



(d): Old age pension is provided under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension scheme to the persons belonging to below poverty line (BPL) household. Central assistance of Rs.200/- per month is provided to the persons of 60-79 years of age and Rs.500/- per month to the persons of age of 80 years or more. In addition to central assistance, State of Assam is contributing Rs.50/-, from their own resources. The rate of pension under IGNOAPS was last revised on 30.06.2011.
