Question : Third and Fourth railway line from Wardha to Nagpur

(a) whether the Railways has taken up third and fourth railway line from Wardha to Nagpur, Wardha to Bhusawal and Sewagram to Ballarshah;

(b) if so, the progress of the project and the time by when it is likely to be completed;

(c) the details of allocation of funds for this project till now; and

(d) the time by when this railway line is likely to be completed and the facilities would accrue to the passengers?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1737 BY SHRI RAMDAS C. TADAS TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 08.12.2021 REGARDING THIRD AND FOURTH RAILWAY LINE FROM WARDHA TO NAGPUR


(a) to (d): Wardha - Nagpur 3rd Line (76 km): Project sanctioned in 2012-13. Anticipated cost of the project is `540 crore. An expenditure of `362 crore has been incurred upto March, 2021 and an outlay of `46 crore has been provided for 2021-22.

Wardha - Nagpur 4th Line (79 km): Project sanctioned in 2016-17. Anticipated cost of the project is `638 crore. An expenditure of `248 crore has been incurred upto March, 2021 and an outlay of `148 crore has been provided for 2021-22.

For Wardha-Nagpur 3rd and 4th line, out of 41 Ha land, 10 Ha land has been acquired. Butibori-Sindi (19 km) section of 3rd and 4th line of Wardha-Nagpur project, has been commissioned and works have been taken up in remaining length in available land.

Wardha – Bhusawal (313 km): The work of 3rd line from Wardha to Bhusawal has been included in Budget subject to requisite Government approvals. Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been taken up.

Wardha (Sewagram) – Ballarshah 3rd Line (132 km): Project sanctioned in 2015-16. Anticipated cost of the project is `1272 crore. An expenditure of `432 crore has been incurred upto March, 2021 and an outlay of `146 crore has been provided for 2021-22. Out of 130 Ha land, 66 Ha land has been acquired. Earthwork, work of major bridges and minor bridges have been taken up in available land.

The completion of any Railway project/s depends on various factors like quick land acquisition by State Government, forest clearance by officials of forest department, priority of project/s, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities, geological and topographical conditions of area, law and order situation in the area of project site etc. All these factors affect the completion time of the project/s. As such, confirmed completion time of project/s cannot be ascertained. Nevertheless, every effort is being made to execute the project/s expeditiously.
