Question : VACANT POSTS IN PSEs



(a) whether number of vacancies at top level are. lying vacant in various Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, PSE-wise;

(c) the reasons for delay in approval and appointment of these vacancies; and

(d) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to fill the vacancies?

THE MINISTER OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES AND PUBLIC ENTERPRISES(SHRI SONTOSH MOHAN DEV)

(a) : As per available information, 10 posts of Chief Executives and 43 posts of functional Directors in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) are lying vacant.

(b): The PSE-wise details of these 53 vacant board level posts are annexed.

(c) : The reasons for delay in some of the Board level appointments include, delay in obtaining vigilance clearances, approval of competent authority, delay in taking over of charge by the appointee, sudden vacancies arising, court cases, revival of posts kept in abeyance by the concerned Ministries, etc.

(d) : The Government has issued detailed guidelines indicating the time frame for filling up such posts in CPSEs. The recommendations of Public Enterprises Selection Board should be made at least six months in advance of the date of occurrence of vacancy and are sent to the concerned Ministry/Department for completing other formalities.
