THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI A. RAJA)
(a) to (c) So far as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is concerned, the entry level faculty posts of Assistant Professor have not been filled in on regular basis after September 1993 due to an interim order passed by the Hon`ble High Court of Delhi in a Civil Writ Petition filed by the Faculty Association of AIIMS on the issue of reservations in faculty posts. These orders have not yet been vacated by the Court. As such, ad-hoc appointments at the level of Assistant Professor are being made in the interest of patient care, teaching and research activities. These ad-hoc Assistant Professors have to undergo regular process of selection.
Due to non-availability of regular candidates through UPSC, some appointments have been made in on ad-hoc basis in Safdarjang Hospital and Dr. RML Hospital in non-teaching sub-cadre of Central Health Service particularly in super Speciality disciplines to ensure patient care in Central Government Hospitals. However, adhoc appointment does not bestow on the candidate any claim or right for regular appointment.
