Question : HOSPITALITY EDUCATION PROGRAMME



(a) whether the various State Governments including Karnataka have submitted any proposals for financial assistance for establishment of Hospitality Education Programme;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the action taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM (SHRI SULTAN AHMED)

(a),(b)&(c): The Ministry of Tourism has a plan scheme under which Central Financial Assistance (CFA) can be sanctioned to a State/Union Territory Government upto a ceiling of Rs.12.00 crores for establishment of an Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) and Rs.4.75 crores for a Food Craft Institute (FCI). In addition, for broad-basing of hospitality education, CFA can be sanctioned upto a ceiling of Rs.2.00 crore for government sponsored Industrial Training Institutes, Polytechnics, Colleges, Public Sector Undertakings and Rs.25.00 lakhs for Schools subject to availability of funds, adherence to the terms and conditions of the scheme guidelines and their inter-se priority.
