(a): Ministry of AYUSH in collaboration with Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has implemented National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) for health promotion, prevention and management of Non-communicable diseases or Lifestyle related disorders through its three research organizations, namely, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) and Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) in districts namely Bhilwara (Rajasthan), Surendranagar (Gujarat), Gaya (Bihar), Darjeeling (West Bengal), Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Sambalpur (Odisha) Nasik (Maharashtra) and Lakhimpur Kheri (UP). The Objectives of the program are as follows:
1. Health promotion of masses through behavioral change.
2. Disease prevention through early diagnosis of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD).
3. Reduction in NCD burden and their risk factors.
4. Early management of NCDs through AYUSH treatment alone or as add on to standard care.
The details of funds allocated by the research councils for the NPCDCS program during the financial year 2019-20 are as below:-

(c): Opportunistic screening for common cancers (breast, cervical and oral) among the population at different level of health facilities is carried and referral to higher centres for further diagnosis and treatment is done after providing the advice of diet and lifestyle modification.
Under Homoeopathy, 63 patients who were provisionally diagnosed during screening were referred to CHCs. Out of these, 12 patients were treated with integrative care at the Centres.
(d): Total 550 number of staff are working in these centres. The desired qualifications as reported by the Research Councils for the staffs working under the NPCDCS programme are as under:-
1. Research Associate- BAMS / MD (Homoeopathy)/ MD (Unani)/ BUMS
2. Senior consultant- M.D. (Ayurveda) and age upto 65 years as on date of engagement.
3. Yoga Instructor/ Therapist- A Degree in Yoga/M.A. (Yoga)/M.Sc. (Yoga) and age not exceeding 30 years
4. Data Entry Operator/Office Assistant- 12th Pass or equivalent with certificate in Computer Course and age upto 27 years as on date of engagement.
5. Multi-tasking staff- Matric pass or equivalent and age upto 30 years as on date of engagement.
