(a) whether the Government has planned to set up more electronics manufacturing units in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;
(c) The details of import of electronic items during the last three years, country-wise; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government to reduce import dependency of this sector and to promote domestic manufacturing?

(a), (b) and (c): Government has taken several steps to promote the investment in electronic manufacturing units in the country. The initiatives of the Government are available in all the States and Union Territories of country. The salient steps taken by the Government to promote domestic manufacturing are placed at Annexure ‘A’.
(d): As per the data available with the Government, the details of import of electronic items namely, consumer electronics, computer hardware and peripherals, telecom Instruments, electronic Instruments and electronic components, from top 10 countries in last three years are given at Annexure ‘B’.
