Question : Hostels for Eklavya Model Residential School

(a) the details of the setting up/construction of buildings/hostels for Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the country including Maharashtra and Rajasthan along with the funds allocated for this purpose during the said period, year-wise, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government is considering to set up Eklavya Residential School in all the tribal tehsils of Maharashtra and Rajasthan including Madha Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra and Dhod and Ahore tehsils of Sikar and Jalore districts respectively in Rajasthan in view of educational backwardness of these districts; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

Answer given by the minister

(a): As on 15.09.2020, there are 566 sanctioned Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) across the country, out of which 285 schools have been made functional. EMRS are fully residential and therefore have provisions of hostels for boy and girl students. The state-wise numbers of EMRSs sanctioned in the country alongwith release of funds during 2019-20 including Maharashtra and Rajasthan is at Annexure.
(b) & (c): As per budget announcement 2018-19, every block having 50% or more ST population and at least 20,000 ST persons is to have an EMRS by the year 2022. Based on this criteria, 9 more blocks in Maharashtra and 1 more block in Rajasthan are to be sanctioned new EMRSs upto the year 2022 as indicated.
