Question : DISTRIBUTION OF AADHAR CARDS



(a) whether the pace of Aadhaar card distribution is very slow;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor along with the steps taken in this regard;

(c) whether there are complaints about technical problems in providing Aadhaar cards to the people above sixty years of age;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government has taken measures to solve the technical problems in distributing the Aadhaar cards to the senior citizens; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) “No Sir. As on 28.2.2013, 24.07 crore Aadhaar letters have been printed and dispatched. However, complaints of Aadhaar letters not delivered from post offices have been received. Various measures by way of taking up the matter with the Department of Posts, launching of the e-Aadhaar portal and using the Short Messaging Service (SMS) for communicating the Aadhaar number have been initiated. The Department of Posts is also monitoring the delivery of the Aadhaar letters and has issued instructions to all the Postal Circles for their smooth and timely delivery.”

(c) to (f) “No sir. No technical problems have been reported. However, adequate provisions have been made in case finger print capture of senior residents. As on 27.2.2013, 4.34 % of Aadhaar generated have been allotted to residents above 66 years of age.
