Question : SUPPORT PRICE OF AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES



(a) the support prices announced by the Government for the year 1999-2000 for the procurement of agricultural crops;

(b) the details of action taken by the Union Government for the procurement of soyabean at support price in Bihar;

(c) whether Union Government have provided any grant to the State Government for the procurement of soyabean; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The support price fixed by the Government of India for 1999-2000 for major agricultural commodities are annexed.

(b) Before onset of harvesting season NAFED, the nodal agency for procurement of Soyabean, had advised all the concerned State Governments/State Agencies to give wide publicity of the Rice support Scheme and in case prices rule below Minimum Support Prices (MSP) to purchase the stocks at MSP under PSS. However, no stock of soyabean under Price Support Scheme was offered in Bihar during kharif, 1999.

(c)&(d) There is no subsidy involved in the purchases of soyabean under Price Support Scheme. However, losses incurred by the Central Nodal Agency are fully met by the Union Government.
