(a) the quantity of water being consumed daily by railway stations, division-wise across the country;
(b) the source of water procurement, service-wise;
(c) the arrangement made by the railways to recycle the waste water;
(d) whether Railway Stations are equipped with water recycling plants; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the steps being taken in this regard?

(a) & (b): Indian Railways have more than 8000 railway stations spread over the length and breadth of the country. To meet demand of drinking water at these railway stations, Railways are using various sources of water like bore-well, municipal supply, tankers, river/dams etc. Although accountal of water received from the municipality is maintained but it is practically not feasible to have accountal of water taken from other sources like bore-well, river/dams etc.
(c) to (e): For optimum use of water, Water Recycling Plants (WRP) are provided at major consumption centers (Station/sheds etc), if the same is economically justified.
Provision of WRP is a continuous process. Railways had already provided WRPs at 40 locations which includes Railway stations also. Presently, 43 more WRPs have been sanctioned, out of which works have been taken up at 24 locations and planning for balance WRPs has been undertaken. Due to installation of WRPs, requirement of fresh water has been reduced, resulting in substantial saving in revenue.
