Question : Tourism Projects

(a) whether the Government has received any proposals from various State Governments for tourism projects during the last three years and the current year;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon, project-wise, State/UT-wise including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tripura, Kerala, Rajasthan and Punjab;
(c) whether the Government proposes to allocate additional funds to the State Governments for various tourism projects for the developments of tourism and if so, the details thereof along with the status of their Detailed Project Reports, State/UT-wise;
(d) whether there are any other projects pending with the Government and if so, the details thereof State/UT-wise and the reasons therefor; and
(e) the number of domestic and foreign tourists who visited the States/UTs during the last five years, years-wise and State/UT-wise?

(a) and (b): Project proposals are received from State Governments/UT Administrations from time to time for seeking Central Financial Assistance under various operative infrastructure development schemes in tourism sector.

Details of projects sanctioned State/UT-wise, including for the States of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tripura, Kerala, Rajasthan and Punjab under various operative schemes during the last three years and the current financial year is given at Annexure-I.

(c) and (d): Receiving proposals from the State Governments/UT Administrations for Central Financial Assistance for tourism projects is a continuous process. The proposals received are examined with reference to the prescribed guidelines and financial assistance is extended for such projects subject to fulfilment of the stipulated conditions, operational viability and availability of funds.

(e): Details of domestic and foreign tourist visits to the States/Union Territories during the last five years is given at Annexure-II.
