The ESI hospitals/dispensaries are set up generally at industrial centres and not district-wise.

(b) & (c): The ESI Corporation has planned to open one hospital each in the old city of Hyderabad, Tuticorin, Tirunveli and Ranipet. The Corporation has also planned to open 18 new ESI dispensaries in Tamil Nadu.

(d) & (e): There is shortage of 300 staff in Andhra Pradesh, 273 in Tamil Nadu, 287 in Uttar Pradesh 935 in Delhi. As the number of ESI dispensaries/hospitals is large it is difficult to furnish unit-wise details.

(f): Yes Sir.

(g): Necessary tie-up arrangements have been made with the reputed medical institutions for providing super speciality facilities including C.T. scan and MRI tests to the beneficiaries of the ESI scheme. A revolving fund has also been set up and placed at the disposal of Regional Directors of the ESIC for making advance payment/reimbursement to the beneficiaries in respect of their super speciality tests/ treatment. As regards shortage of staff in ESI hospitals/dispensaries the concerned State Governments are requested from time to time to fill the vacant posts as per the norms prescribed by the ESI Corporation.
