Question : Construction of World Class Stadium in Patna

(a) whether the Government is considering to construct a world class stadium in Patna;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the amount allocated by the Government for the construction of this stadium;

(d) the time frame fixed by the Government for its completion; and

(e) whether the Government has received any proposal regarding construction of a world class stadium in Patna from the Government of Bihar and if so, the details and the action taken thereon?

(a) to (c) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the primary responsibility for construction of sports infrastructure, including world class stadium, rests with the State/Union Territory Governments. The Union Government supplements their effort by bridging the critical gaps. Currently, this Ministry is not considering to construct any world class stadium in Patna. However, under the Khelo India Scheme this Ministry has recently sanctioned ten sports infrastructure projects in Bihar, including Patna, amounting to ? 51.00 crore.

(d) Does not arise.

(e) No such proposal has been received in this Ministry.
