Question : STATUTORY WARNING ON BOTTLES



(a) whether the judiciary has issued any guidelines to the effect that statutory warning should be printed on bottles containing cold drinks, pertaining to the harmful ingredients present in the drinks;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps the Government proposes to take in this regard?

(a) to (c) The Hon`ble Rajasthan High Court in its order dated 01.06-2005 required disclosure on each bottle/package of container of soft drinks either of the following two declarations:-

(i) Soft drink does not contain pesticide residues.
OR
(ii) Soft drink is safe. The level of pesticide residue is well within all applicable standards.

The order has been stayed by Hon`ble Supreme Court where the case is now pending
