Question : Violence Against Women


(a) whether the Government has taken note of the reports of violence against women and children in pandemic period;
(b) if so, the number of instances reported as per official records in the years 2019-20, 2020- 21 and 2021 - 22 so far; and
(c) the details of allocations made, disbursed and spent under “Nirbhaya fund” in the FY 2021-22 and so far?

(a) to (c): National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) compiles and publishes information on crimes against women in its publication “Crime in India” which is available on the website of NCRB, viz. https://ncrb.gov.in/en/crime-india. The said report is available upto the year 2020. As per the data published by the NCRB, the total number cases of crime against women registered during the years 2019 and 2020 are 4,05,326 and 3,71,503 respectively. Further, total number of cases of crimes against children during the years 2019 and 2020 are 1,48,090 and 1,28,531 respectively. The data shows decline in the crimes against women and children during the year 2020 as compared to 2019.

The allocation made, disbursed and spent under "Nirbhaya Fund” since inception are Rs. 6612.85 crore, Rs. 4241.91 crore and Rs. 2989.57 crore respectively .
