Question : Indian Apparel Exports

(a) whether the Government is aware of the Duty disadvantage faced by Indian apparel Exporters to European Union, vis-a-vis Exporters from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Turkey and Sri Lanka;

(b) if so, the percentage of Duty disadvantage with above-mentioned countries;

(c) whether the Government has taken any measures to remove the Duty disadvantage faced by the Indian Apparel Exporters to European Union; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Indian apparels have been facing an average import duty of 9.6% in European Union as against 0% for similar products exported by Bangladesh, Cambodia, Turkey and Sri Lanka.

(c) & (d): India is currently engaged with UK, European Union (bloc of 27 European Countries), UAE, Australia and European Free Trade Association (bloc of 4 European Countries) for Free Trade Agreements, wherein Government is aiming to conclude mutually beneficial agreements.
