Question : DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE FOR BODOLAND



(a) whether the Government has contemplated to take an effective action plan to announce a special economic as well as development package amounting to minimum of Rs. 1000 crore per annum for the constitutionally recognized most backward and neglected scheduled Tribal Area in Assam `Bodoland Territorial Areas District` to help boost overall economic growth and development within the Bodo-Tribal Territory at par with rest of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the time by which the Government is likely to take appropriate action in this regard?

(a) & (b): The Government has agreed to provide an assistance of Rs. 100 crore per annum for five years (over and above Plan allocation) to Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) for development of the socio-economic infrastructure in the region.

(c): In view of the (a) and (b) above, does not arise.
