(a) the details of various activities under the National Food
Security Mission in the country,State-wise including-Jharkhand;
(b) the details of districts covered under NFSM, State-wise;
(c) whether some States including Odisha and Goa has requested
to include more districts under NFSM;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the response of the Government thereto?

(a): The activities covered under National Food Security Mission
(NFSM) include Demonstrations on Crop Production Technologies; Production
and Distribution of seeds; Farm Mechanization; Integrated Pest Management
(IPM); Integrated Nutrient Management (INM); water saving device like
Sprinklers, Distribution of Pumpsets etc. Imparting knowledge regarding
the best agricultural practices through Farmers Field Schools (FFS) is also
an integral part of the Mission. These activities are common for all the
States covered under NFSM including Jharkhand.
(b): Presently, the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) is being
implemented in overall 480 districts of 18 States in the country. Out of
these, 142 districts are covered each under NFSM-Rice & NFSM-Wheat and 468
districts under NFSM-Pulses. The State-wise and component-wise number of
districts covered under NFSM is given in Annexure.
(c) to (e): The districts under NFSM has been included on the basis of
certain criteria. This Ministry received requests from some states including
Odisha either to include new districts under NFSM or replace the existing
district with new one. Those districts that fulfilled the criteria were
included. No such request has been received from Goa as the State is not
covered under NFSM.
