Question : MoU with CCM

Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS
be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Competition Commission of Mauritius (CCM) for promotion and strengthening of co-operation in competition law and policy;
(b) If so, the details thereof; and
(c) the steps being taken by the Government to promote and strengthen cooperation in matters of competition law and policy through exchange of information, sharing of best practices and capacity building initiatives?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The Government has given its approval for signing of the MoU between Competition Commission of India and Competition Commission of Mauritius on December 22, 2021.

(c): The Government had earlier approved following eight MOUs entered into by CCI with their counterparts for experience sharing in competition law development and enforcement to augment the understanding of competition law and policy, enforcement cooperation to handle cross border anti-competitive activities effectively and technical co-operation through seminars, workshops and trainings:-

(i) Federal Anti-monopoly Service, Russia, (ii) United States Department of Justice and The United States Federal Trade Commission, United States (iii) The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Australia (iv) Director General for Competition of the European Commission, European Union (v) Competition Bureau, Canada, (vi) BRICS Competition Authorities, BRICS Countries (vii) Administrative Council for Economic Defense of Brazil, Brazil and (viii) Japan Fair Trade Commission, Japan.
