Question : NH in Assam

(a) whether the Government is planning to introduce any new highway in Assam;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to convert these stretches into National Highways (NH), Jorhat to Dhodor Ali (122 Km, covered Golaghat District, Jorhat District, Sivasagar District and Dibrugarh District), Inter-State linking road of Romoni Ali (Sivasagar District) and (Inter-State linking road of Sonari-Towkak (Sivasagar District); and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a)&(b) Yes Madam, in Assam, about 288 kms of state roads have been declared “in-principle” as National Highways (NH)for preparation of feasibility and Detailed Project Report, details of the same are as follows:-

7. Junction of NH-627 near Baithalangso-Bichitur-Ulukunchi-Bhoirymbong on Shillong Bypass 100 – Assam
18 - Meghalaya
Total 288 (in Assam)

(c) Government has taken up following roads for development under Bharatmala Scheme in the State of Assam:-

In addition, following three roads has been recently declared as National Highway (NH) in the Districts of Sibsagar and Jorhat in the state of Assam:-

(d) Preparation of Detailed Project Report has been taken up.
