ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND
FAMILY WELFARE
(DR. BHARATI PRAVIN PAWAR)
(a): As per information received, no study with regard to the density of hospitals has been carried out. However, there are standard guidelines under Indian Public Health (IPH) for setting up the hospitals in the State/UTs.

(b) & (c): Health being a State subject, the primary responsibility of providing health care and hospital services to its citizens is that of the State Governments/ Union Territories. However, under National Health Mission (NHM), financial and technical support is provided to the State Governments (including Assam)/UTs to strengthen their health care system based on the requirements posed by the States/UTs in their Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs).

One All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been approved for Assam in Guwahati by Government of India.
