(a): Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries for development of fisheries in the country. Rs. 152041.52 lakh has been spent through States/UTs/Implementing agencies for different fisheries developmental activities in the country. Funds under the Scheme are released to States/UTs/Institutes/Organizations, directly under various components of the Scheme for different developmental activities of the fisheries sector in the country and these activities aids in employment generation.State-wise details of the Income & Employment generated in the fisheries sector are not centrally maintained.
(b): Under the scheme Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries, theDepartment of Fisheries is targeting the fisheries development in the country with the following major components:
(i) Development of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture,
(ii) Development of Marine Fisheries, Infrastructure and Post Harvest Operations,
(iii) National Scheme on Welfare of Fishermen
(iv) Strengthening of Database & Geographical Information System of the Fisheries Sector,
(v) Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) and other need-based Interventions,
(vi) Institutional Arrangement for Fisheries Sector,
In addition to the above-said broad components,financial assistance is being provided to various States/UTs under different sub-components to encourage the fishers and fish farmers,for overall development of fisheries sector. This Department is also implementing Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) schemewith a total corpus fund of Rs 7522.48 crore for providing concessional finance to the Eligible Entities(EEs), including State Governments/UTs,private entrepreneursand State entities for development of identified fisheries infrastructure facilities. Under the FIDF, concessional finance is provided by the Nodal Loaning Entities (NLEs) namely (a) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD),(b) National Cooperatives Development Corporation (NCDC), and (c) All scheduled Banks. Government of India provides interest subvention up to 3% per annum for providing the concessional finance by the NLEs.
