Question : Chartered Aircraft of BSF

(a) whether a chartered aircraft of the Border Security Force (BSF) crashed near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in
New Delhi on 22 December, 2015 and all the BSF personnel on board have been killed and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has conducted any investigation in this regard and if so, the details and the outcome thereof;

(c) whether it is fact that most of the aircrafts of the BSF''s Air Wing are old and need to be phased out and if so, the details of all existing aircrafts being put into use by BSF with their date of manufacturing and induction into BSF;

(d) whether such aircrafts have been phased out in other parts of the world, but BSF is still using them and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether this issue was raised with the BSF and if so, the details thereof and the action taken in this regard along with the steps taken by the Government to provide new aircrafts to BSF?

(a) & (b) BSF Air Wing aircraft SKA B-200 Registration No.VT-BSA crashed near Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi on 22 December 2015. This is a Civil Registered aircraft governed by the DGCA Rules. All the passengers (06) and crew (04) on board succumbed to injuries due to the crash. The details are under:-

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has appointed a Committee of Inquiry on 28 December 2015 to investigate into the causes of accident (crash) of BSF SKA B-200 aircraft as per Aircraft Rules 2012.

(c) to (e) Presently BSF Air Wing is operating and maintaining 03 Fixed Wing aircraft. The details are given below:-
