(a) the number of steel based factories in Jharkhand, district-wise along with their production capacity and efficiency, unit-wise;
(b) whether these factories are meeting their production capabilities and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the measures taken/to be taken to reduce the deficit?
ANSWER

(a) The total number of steel factories in Jharkhand in 2018-19 stood at 46. District wise details (Number, capacity and capacity utilization) of existing steel factories is given at Annexure-I.
(b)&(c): Steel is a deregulated sector the role of the Government is that of a facilitator which lays down broad policy guideline for creating conducive environment for improving efficiency and performance of the Steel Sector. Ministry of steel does not maintain private steel factory wise capacity and production data. However, the total steel production of the steel factories in Jharkhand in 2018-19 was 17.53 MT.
