(a) the number of post offices / sub-post offices operating in all the districts in Tamil Nadu at present, category-wise;
(b) the number of post offices / sub-post offices running into loss / profit in the State;
(c) whether the Government propose to close down such offices in the State which are running in losses; and
(d) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) The category - wise number of post offices / sub - post offices operating at present in the districts of Tamilnadu is as under :-
Sub Post Offices = 2764, Extra Departmental Sub Post Offices = 219 and Extra Departmental Branch Post Offices = 9094.
(b)to (d): Post Offices are provided / maintained according to specific norms which
also allows for prescribed limit of loss.
The number of post offices running in loss / profit in the State is as under :-
