MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS (SHRI NAMO NARAIN MEENA)
(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The Government had launched in October 2003 the National Strategy Study (NSS) for implementing the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in India with the assistance from World Bank. The NSS is envisaged to assess the issues and opportunities presented by potential international markets for greenhouse gas reduction through the CDM, and evaluate processes and methodologies to facilitate implementation of CDM projects in the country. The World Bank has awarded the study to The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), New Delhi. The report of the study is likely to be submitted by October 2004.
