Question : SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TO EPF SUBSCRIBERS



(a) the total expenditure incurred on Business Processing and Re-engineering project by Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Organisation;

(b) the reasons for failure to issue Social Security Number (SSN) to all EPF subscribers; and

(c) the time by which the SSN likely to be issued to all EPF subscribers?

(a): The total expenditure incurred on the ‘Re-inventing EPF India’ Project upto 31-03-2008 was about Rs. 51 crore.

(b) & (c): So far, Social Security Number (SSN) in respect of 33,48,391 members have been allotted. The process of allotment of SSN is continuously going on. No time-frame can be fixed at this stage. However, Government is making efforts to expedite the process.
