Question : Industrial Corridors

(a) whether the Government is working on industrial corridors in the country particularly on Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Chennai-Bangalore corridors using the funds of Asian Development Bank and Japan International Cooperative Agency;
(b) if so, the details thereof indicating the cities being developed thereunder and the progress made so far, corridor-wise and the funds allocated for these projects;
(c) whether any proposals have been received by the Government from various quarters to include more cities under industrial corridors and if so, the details thereof along with the action taken thereon and the time-frame fixed for completion of industrial corridor projects; and
(d) the status of constitution of National Industrial Corridor Development Authority announced by the Government?

(a): The Government is working on implementation of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), Vizag –Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC), Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC), Bengaluru-Mumbai Economic Corridor (BMEC) and Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). Out of these VCIC & CBIC are being implemented with the assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) respectively.




(b): The details of CBIC & VCIC is as follows:

2. Sh. Y.V. Subba Reddy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) -do- To establish a “Granite Polishing Units Cluster” as a part of VCIC in Podili and Chimakurthy Mandals The location of both mandals does not fall under identified area of VCIC.
3 Sh. Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha -do- To include Odisha in the Corridor by extending it to Balasore The proposal is not covered in the first phase of VCIC.
4 Sh. K. Palravindran, Additional Private Secretary to Hon’ble Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways & Shipping -do- To include Madurai-Tuticorin Section in the first phase of ECEC The proposal is not covered in the first phase of ECEC.
