Question : TELEPHONE EXCHANGES

(a) the number of telephone exchanges functioning in Gujarat particulary in Dahod at present, district-wise;

(b) the number of telephone exchanges set up during the last three years, district-wise;

(c) the expenditure incurred thereon;

(d) whether the Government propose to set up some more exchanges and modernise the existing telephone exchanges in the state during 2001-2002;

(e) if so, the location thereof, district-wise;

(f) the funds allocated for he purpose;
(g) whether the Government have received complaints regarding misbehaviors of officials, delay in work and corruption prevailing in telephone exchanges; and
(h) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government thereon?

(a) At present 2552 number of telephone exchanges are working in Gujarat. Out of this 38 number of telephone exchanges are working in Dahod District. The district-wise details are given in Annexure-I.

(b) The information is maintained Secondary Switching Area-wise. 250 number of telephone exchanges have been set up during the last 3 years. Details are given in Annexure II.

(c) The expenditure incurred for setting up telephone exchanges in Circle is as under:
