a) Yes, Sir.
b) The Customs & Central Excise Settlement Commission provides a
forum for the assessees to apply for settlement of cases under
Chapter V of the Central Excise Act, 1944 and Chapter XIVA of the
Customs Act, 1962, on the basis of a true and complete declaration
of the duty liability by them and its consideration by the Settlement
Commission. Though no time limit has been prescribed in the statute
for such settlement, the average time for settlement of a case could
range from 6 months to 1 year.
