(a): In pursuance of the Government’s vision of “Housing for All” by 2022, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) [PMAY(U)] since 25.06.2015 for providing assistance to States/Union Territories (UTs) in addressing the housing requirement of the people belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in urban areas through In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR); Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) and Beneficiary-Led individual house construction (BLC) components of the Mission.
The Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS for EWS/LIG&CLSS for MIG)component of the PMAY (U) is being implemented by the MoHUAas a Central Sector Scheme (CSS) through the Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) viz. National Housing Bank (NHB) and Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO). Under CLSS, interest subsidy on housing loans are provided for EWS, LIG&MIG segment.
(b) and (c): The PMAY (U) Guidelines provides for undertaking demand survey by States/UTs for assessing actual demand of housing under the Scheme. The demand validated and reported by States/UTs under the PMAY (U) to this Ministry so far is around 100 lakhs.
As on 04.02.2019, total 15,263 projects have been approved for construction of 72,80,851 houses under the PMAY (U), out of which 38,67,191 have been grounded for construction, 14,75,879 have been completed and 14,11,786 have been occupied by the beneficiaries.
(d): The Ministry reviews and monitors progress of the projects approved under PMAY(U) through Monthly and Quarterly Progress Reports, in the meetings of Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC), video conferencing and review meetings at the level of Secretary (HUPA) as also through field visits by the officers of the Ministry and persuade the States/UTs to meet the demand of housing under HFA mission.
