Question : VOCATIONAL EDUCATION UNDER SSA



(a) the number of schools offering vocational education under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the country including Uttar Pradesh, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to offer vocational education in all the Secondary schools in the States, especially in Uttar Pradesh; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): Vocational Education is not included in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). The Centrally Sponsored Scheme of “Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (VS&HSE)” is being implemented in the country under the scheme of Rashtriya Mahdyamik Shiksha Abhiyan. The scheme, inter alia, provides for introduction of vocational education from the secondary stage in government, government aided and recognized private schools. Till date 2035 Schools in 25 States/ UTs including 100 secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh have been covered under the scheme.
