Question : Rules for Traffic Violators

(a) whether the Government have put in place any policy/guidelines regarding issue of challans and collection of money from traffic violators on National Highways;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is a fact that the Traffic Police in States are not depositing the money collected from traffic violators with the Government of India; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (d) Issue of challans and the collection of money from traffic violators by way of penalties on all roads including the National Highways, comes in the domain of State Government. There is no provision for depositing the money collected from traffic violators on the National Highways with Government of India.
