Question : Resettlement of Defence Personnel

(a) the approximate number of persons who retire every year from the Armed Forces;

(b) whether the Government is imparting any training to the personnel of the Armed Forces before their retirement;

(c) whether Indian Institute of Management has also come forward to help them in finding employment;

(d) if so, the details thereof including the schemes formulated and fund allocated / utilised for encouraging entrepreneurship among ex-servicemen in the country;

(e) the number of ex-servicemen selected for various jobs in the Central Government departments during the last three years in the country; and

(f) the steps being taken by the Government to provide them more job opportunities?

IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

(a) Approximately, 55,000 personnel retire annually from the armed forces.

(b) Yes, Madam.

(d) Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Indore are conducting 24 weeks Management Courses regularly for Armed Forces personnel. There is no proposal from them for encouraging entrepreneurship among Ex-servicemen.

(e) Details of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) selected for various jobs in the Central Government Departments during the last three years in the country is at Annexure.
(f) To facilitate ESM to get suitable employment, the following steps are taken by the Government:-
(i)

Dissemination of information on Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) website regarding Open Competitive Examination for various posts, dates and syllabus etc.
(ii)

DGR signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Confederation of Indian Industry to arrange job fairs by Corporate Sectors to provide additional employment opportunities to ESM.
(iii)

A job portal has been hosted by DGR wherein ESM an upload their Bio-data and corporate / other sectors can approach them and pick as per their requirement.
(iv)
Organize ESM Job Fairs Pan India to provide an interface between Corporate & ESM.
(v) Regular interaction with corporate houses to generate entrepreneur / employment opportunities for ESM.
