(a): Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has been approved for implementation in place of erstwhile National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified NAIS (MNAIS) from current Kharif 2016 season. Details of beneficiaries are not yet available as the season is in progress. No State-wise allocation or release is made under erstwhile schemes of NAIS, MNAIS & Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) and present PMFBY. However, details of Government share in respect of premium subsidy and claims (under NAIS) and number of beneficiaries during the last three years under erstwhile schemes of NAIS/MNAIS/WBCIS are at Annexure-I and Annexure-II respectively.

(b) & (c): PMFBY envisages coverage of all food crops (cereals, millets and pulses), oilseeds and annual commercial/horticultural crops. However, the crops are notified by the concerned State Government subject to availability of past yield data based on Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) for requisite number of years. During first season i.e. Kharif 2016 number of crops like wheat, paddy, maize, bajra, barley, potato, sugarcane, cotton, groundnut, mustard, black gram, green gram, soybean, arhar, urad, ragi, papaya, banana, lobiya, bhindi, tomato, jowar, chilli, til etc. have been notified by the concerned State Governments under PMFBY.
