Question : IMPROVEMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE UNDER JNNURM



(a) whether the Union Government is aware that the concerned agencies have failed to improve the infrastructure in the various cities of Chhattisgarh under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Union Government is considering to introduce Public Private Partnership for development of cities in the State; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT(SHRI SAUGATA ROY )

(a) & (b): No, Madam. Under Urban Infrastructure & Governance Sub-Mission of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), the total allocation for the State of Chattisgarh is Rs.24803.00 lakh, out of which project worth Rs.30364.00 lakh has been approved with the Additional Central Assistance (ACA) commitment of Rs.24291.20 lakhs. Under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small & Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) of JnNURM, the total allocation for the State of Chattisgarh is Rs.13478.00 lakh which has been fully committed for the four projects approved for the State of Chattisgarh.

(c) & (d): JNNURM encourages urban local bodies to use public private partnership which can play a significant role in supplementing Government’s efforts of development of cities.
