Question : TALKS WITH ULFA



(a) whether the Government is initiating fresh talks with ULFA;

(b) if so, the demands and issues which have been spelt out and put forth by the ULFA for the talks; and

(c) the progress made so far alongwith the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): The Government has not received any formal proposal from ULFA for direct talks. However, the Government is open to talks with any militant groups including United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) provided they shun violence and abide by the Constitution of India.

(b) & (c): In view of (a) above, do not arise.
