(a), (b) and (c) Yes, Sir. United Nations Convention on Law of the sea (UNCLOS) is a
legal instrument for the seas and oceans to facilitate international communication,
promote peaceful uses of the seas and oceans, the equitable and efficient utilisation of
their resources, the conservation of their living resources, and protection and preservation
of the marine environment. India has signed the Convention in 1982 and thereafter
ratified the same in June, 1995. India is invoking the provisions under the UNCLOS in
relation to the sea bed mining and delineation of the outer limit of the continental shelf.
