Question : Cold Chain Scheme under PMKSY

(a) whether the Government has sanctioned 42 Mega Food Parks (MFPs) to set up Food Processing Industries (FPIs) as India is the second largest producer of food grains, fruits and vegetables in the world and if so, the current operational status of these MFPs;

(b) whether the Government has any proposal to create a Cold Chain Grid to link every nook and corner of the country with its 42 Mega Food Parks, 234 Cold Chain projects under the PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY);

(c) if so, the details thereof specially in Haryana;

(d) the details of the total number of Cold Chain Storage facilities available in the country as on date, State/ UT-wise;

(e) whether is it also true that Government has not set up export hut and/or special arrangements to export the processed foods; and

(f) if so, the detailed plan of the Government to operationalize all these MFP sand to provide export assistance therein?

(a): A total of 42 Mega Food Parks (MFPs) were envisaged by the Government under Mega Food Park Scheme. As on date, Ministry has accorded final approval to 38 MFPs and in-principle approval to 3 MFPs across the country. The current status of implementation is placed in Annexure I.

(b) & (c): To fill in the gaps across the value chain, the Ministry has approved a total of 41 MFPs & 353 Integrated Cold Chain Projects throughout the country. The details of cold chain projects approved in Haryana is placed in Annexure II.

(d): State-wise number of cold storage created under Scheme for Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure is placed at Annexure-III. Number of cold storage approved under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture is placed at Annexure-IV.




(e): Government has approved “Production Linked Incentive scheme” for Food Processing Sector with an outlay of Rs 10,900 Crore to support creation of global food manufacturing champions and support Indian brands of food products in international market. Also, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) provides incentives to processed food exporters under its different schemes for Infrastructure, Quality, Market Development etc.

(f): A total of 22 Mega Food Park Projects have been made operational so far. Ministry holds regular review meetings and coordinates with the project promoters and concerned State Governments to make all the Mega Food Parks operational.
